With three teams at home and the thirds only down the road at New Brighton Saturday is looking like a Halloween festival of rugby.

After the last two excellent results against Hull and Waterloo the First Team have a real test against league leaders Huddersfield. The Yorkshiremen could make it eight league wins from as many games if they take the result on Saturday however Matt Cairns’ men will be wishing to make a statement of intent about going one better than last year in the promotion race.

After a comprehensive 58-9 win against Ilkley last weekend, Huddersfield will look to make it back to back wins on the road by looking to dominate up front and use their set piece skills. Wirral will be looking to play as they did against Waterloo working the ball and exploiting any defensive gaps.

Huddersfield are not all about forward power though, and consequently our ‘opposition player to watch’ is their free-scoring Centre Elliot Hodgson.
The Huddersfield teamsheet is:
15. Lewis Workman
14. Brandon Conway
13. Elliot Hodgson
12. Tom Owen
11. Danny Grainger
10. Chris Bell
9. Joel Hinchliffe
8. Nick Sharpe
7. Lewis Bradley
6. Ben Morrill
5. Austen Thompson
4. Nick Rhodes
3. Adam Tamanis
2. Fran Entresengle
1. Alex Battye (Captain)

Replacements

Reuben Pollard
Adam Malthouse
Ben Hoyle

Wirral Second Team will be hoping to continue their unbeaten season with a home win against 5th placed Kirkby Lonsdale who have one win out of three away games so far this season.

The third team are down the road at New Brighton 2 who currently lie third in the league with an unbeaten home record.

The fourth team have a local derby at home against Anselmians 3 who lie tenth in the league having not won away yet this season.

Don’t forget that after the rugby we are having our Halloween Social … with fancy dress optional let’s hope we keep any horror shows off the field this weekend!

Finally, don't forget to vote for the Club in the Aviva Community Project poll here.
