A preview of the weekend's rugby for Wirral teams.

After last week's loss to Kendal the first team are keen to get back to winning ways but will not find it easy at the away fixture on Teesside this weekend. Billingham will be looking to replicate the home form that saw them put 99 points past Waterloo last time out. Coached by ex-Northampton Saints and England U-21 Centre, Chris Hyndman the games against the Teessiders have always gone the way of the home side over the past two seasons. Coach Cairns and Captain Craig Harvey will be looking for Wirral to buck that trend and come away with the win. Billingham lie 9th in the table with 2 wins and 2 losses; however those losses have come against in-form Hull and Huddersfield. Billingham Captain, Peter Evans, will be looking for an improvement on their mid-table finish last season and with one of the speediest back-lines in the league they are capable of beating anyone. As a consequence the opposition player to watch is another fast winger Adam Radwan.

The second team will be looking to continue their unbeaten run with a home game against Broughton Park 2; with scoring 71 points on the way to another win last week on the 'plastic fantastic' away at Burnage the players will be looking to emphasise the strength in depth that the Club has and challenge the first team players to keep their performances on a par.

In a reverse of the second team fixture, after recording their first win of the campaign last week the third team are away against Broughton Park 3, a side with a similar record having lost three and drawn one this campaign. A first away win would certainly give a healthier look to the league.

The fourth team are at the Memorial Ground playing against Mossley Hill 2 who sit at the bottom of the league having only played 2 of their matches. A win would maintain Wirral's position near the top of the league.

On Sunday the Senior Colts are away at Chester (2.00PM kick-off) and the Junior Colts are at home against Littleborough (12:30PM kick-off). In a full programme for the age-group sides the Juniors are at home against Mold while the Minis are both home and away against Caldy.

If you're not taking the longest journey of the season to support the first team why not come down to the Club and support the second team this Saturday; as usual the outstanding quality of the rugby played will be matched by the convivial atmosphere and the food and drinks on offer.

Next Saturday is the Vice Presidents lunch prior to the first team game against Hull; all attendees should confirm their attendance with Fred Tushingham, Barry Evans or Ron Wilson ASAP (if they haven't done so already).
