A preview of the weekend's rugby for Wirral teams.

With their second loss in a row coming, not entirely unexpectedly, on Teesside at Billingham; the first team will be anxious to get back to winning ways in front of an expected bumper crowd after the Vice Presidents lunch this Saturday. The visitors for the 3.00PM kick-off are Hull a side with a similar record to Wirral in the League this season. Last season Wirral came out on top in both tight games; at home despite being ravaged by injury Wirral won 14-7 with tries from Joe Murray and Matt Loon. This season's Hull side is full of a lot of new and returning talent including Winger Steve Hihetah from Rosslyn Park, Scotland U20s Prop George Thornton and Scrum Half/Winger James Watts from Leicester Lions Academy. The Yorkshiremen have also beaten the two sides that Wirral have lost to this season, Kendal and Billingham so an exciting game is in prospect. Opposition player to watch has to be from their powerful forwards and is 25-year old Loosehead George Thornton.

Meanwhile, the second team will be looking to continue their unbeaten run in the League with an away game against Crewe & Nantwich 2. A tough encounter is expected with C&N being unbeaten at home this season and last seasons encounters going the way of the home sides.

The third team's recent improvement in form will be severely challenged with a visit to league leaders Widnes 2 who have won all their games to date.

Back at the Memorial Ground the fourth team will take on local rivals Parkonians, hoping to continue to challenge the top of the League by beating the lads from Oxton (who currently lie in 5th place).

On Sunday, all Mini and Junior sides have games with the exception of the U16s. The U15s are at home against New Brighton while the U13s face the same Club away. The U10s-U14s are away at Ellemere Port while the U7s-U9s welcome the same opposition to the Memorial Ground.

Good luck to all our sides this weekend.
