On Saturday the First XV meet local rivals Birkenhead Park in a game that could decide Park's fate as they battle relegation.

A bumper crowd is expected at the Memorial Ground for the 3.00PM kick-off this Saturday where local opposition Birkenhead Park will be looking to halt a run of five defeats since their last win against Hull in February. The Upper Park outfit will need a win if they are to have any chance of avoiding the drop into North 1 West, along with already relegated Burnage. Park are battling it out with Stockport, Huddersfield YMCA and Cleckheaton to escape the final two relegation places. A win could see them face a crucial home game against Stockport on the final day of the season to avoid the drop; anything other than a win and things will be difficult.

At the other end of the table, after an outstanding season and a win in the tightest of games at Stockport last week, Wirral confirmed second-place in the League and a promotion play-off against rivals from the Midlands. The play-off will be away on 30 April, against either Scunthorpe or Hinckley depending on their title-deciding clash this weekend.

Back to this weeks clash and Wirral will be eager to get back to winning ways on home soil after their only league loss of the season last time out against Sheffield. Against Birkenhead earlier in the season Wirral came out on top 10-36; the contest was evenly matched up to half time with the score at 10-10 but a sending off for Park opened up spaces for Wirral's speedy backs and a win was the result.

The Club is bound to be very busy on Saturday afternoon and with parking being at a premium make sure you arrive in plenty of time to enjoy the game.
