Unfortunately the club are saddened to announce the passing of Arthur Davis.

Our Cricket President and one of our original founder members in 1957, Mr Arthur Davis passed away on New Years Eve. He was close to 90 we think and has been ill since the death of his wife in May.

Arthur was dedicated to Wirral CC or formerly the Old Wirralians CC. He played and served the club tirelessly over many years and without his work on the ground and off the field activities, it is doubtful that the Club would have survived to where it it today.

His wife, who tragically died earlier this year, helped providing teas and other things she did for the Club that you just don’t see in today’s world. They both served the Club and did what they did for the love of the club and not for any material, financial or personal gain.

I had known him for well over 30 years and considered him a true friend.

In later years Arthur served as Club President and continued to advise and work on the ground at Clatterbridge until his health gave in. He occasionally popped down to see how the teams were getting on and he himself was rewarded by Wirral Borough Council with a Service to the Community Award which he treasured wholeheartedly.

He will be missed by us all and hope now that he can finally rest in peace with his beloved Edna.

Thank you

Leighton
