Wirral Club Working Party

Wirral Club Working Party

Andrew Broadbent11 Jul 2011 - 10:03

With over 50 volunteer helpers responding to the call on Sunday, the refurbishment of the Club is well underway. But the work is not finished yet...

Dear All
On behalf of Wirral Rugby and Cricket Club, can I take this opportunity of thanking each and every one of you that turned up yesterday to give your support.
The response and enthusiasm was quite frankly overwhelming.
The amount of work that was carried out was unbelievable. At one point we had over 50 volunteer helpers, so well done to everyone.
“Team Wirral” was well and truly put on the map yesterday, when we have finished we will have a clubhouse and grounds to be proud of!!

The Plan of Attack is :
4 of us will be varnishing and sealing the main lounge floor most nights this week.
The shower room is being skimmed on Saturday and tiled on Sunday.
New showers will then be fitted.
New ceiling to be fitted in the shower room.
The men’s toilets are being ripped out and replaced by new sanitary fittings, and a new sink unit with new cubicles being constructed over the course of the next two weeks.
We will then be having the whole room tiled and decorated.
The changing rooms need an extra two coats of paint and the new coat hooks putting up.
The main front door to be painted and glossed .
New ceiling tiles to be fitted in to the club lounge.
The club room tables need the legs fixing and painting and new veneer strips need fitting to the sides of them.
All the club maroon chairs needs steam cleaning.
The frame around the 1st team pitch scoreboard needs glossing.
There are still 3 more sets of Rugby Posts to be painted with the cherry picker.
The floodlights posts need painting green and overhauling in readiness for the new season.
Maroon strips to be painted in the centre of all the rugby posts crossbars.
New maple doors to be bought and fitted in the main club room to match the maple effect door into the lounge.

I am sure there is still more to add, but this will do for now.
Anyone wishing to help again we are planning to be down again next Sunday (17th July).

Once again thank you to everyone.

Best Regards

John
Wirral Club Chairman
