PREVIEW: Wirral 1XV v Firwood Waterloo
This weekend sees Wirral facing Firwood Waterloo at home, after having the game postponed two weeks ago.
Wirral have had mixed results over their last 5 games, having lost last weekend, 28-16 against Huddersfield and also away at Hull, had their game against Waterloo postponed after twenty minutes of play, and won at home against Billingham and away at Kendal. So far this season the side has only lost twice at home against Huddersfield and Kendal. Still on the hunt for promotion, Wirral sit in 6th place, some 17 points behind Rossendale with a game in hand.
Firwood Waterloo are coming into today’s game following a win, 31-12, at home to Lymm. So far this season, Waterloo has won 4 of their 19 matches – with all but one of these being at home. The team currently lie in 13th place on 22 points.
The sides have met 5 times prior to today’s game (not including the postponed match two weeks ago) with Wirral having won just twice. The last full match between the sides occurred in October at Waterloo’s ground and saw Wirral win 5-64. However, today’s game will not be an easy one for Wirral, as Waterloo seem to have strengthen over the past few weeks.
