Wirral travel up the M6 to Westmorland for this weeks fixture against Kirkby Lonsdale. For the past couple of seasons both clubs records have been closely matched with each of them ending the campaigns in mid-table. Wirral will be hoping that they can change their record at Underley Park where they have lost in both the previous two seasons; they also could do with recording their first away win of the season in order to pull away from the teams at the bottom of the table.
Kirkby Lonsdale currently sit in 12th position on 9 points with 2 wins at home; Wirral sit 3 positions above them but only one point. Last time out Kirkby Lonsdale narrowly lost (16-13) a scrappy away game at Alnwick, Wirral will be hoping to build on last week's home win against Ilkley. KL's home wins have come against Blackburn (23-15) and local rivals Carlisle (43-7). They have already used 33 players this season so individuals are difficult to pick out however scrum half Ben Walker is noted for his darting runs and left winger Harry Huddleston has proved too quick and elusive for the opposition on occasion.
Arguably, Wirral have not had the 'rub of the green' in some of the narrow losses and the draw away from home this season so Head Coach, Simon Verbickas, will be hoping that hard work put in by the team this week will produce a positive result. Kick off is 3.00pm but if you can't make it to the game why not come down to the Club where the World Cup Quarter Finals are on the Big Screen and the 2nd and 4th XV are at home against Vale of Lune and Helsby respectively.
