Wirral travel to Blackburn looking for their second victory on the road this season. The season has been quite stop start for Wirral who currently lie in 10th place on 17 points. Wirral welcome Mark Williams back on the wing after a nasty cut on the top of his head and Stuart Gratton returns on the bench after a shoulder injury. Joe Probert comes onto the wing for Matt Loon who has broken his ribs. The team feel if it wasn’t for one or two more decisions going their way they would have been further up the table. The performances this season have been better than the table reflects and that is evidenced in the fact Wirral have statistically the 3rd best defence in the league. Last week Wirral were unfortunate to not beat a strong third placed Macclesfield after seeing a 17-0 lead slip away and on another day they would have seen the game out. This has been a reflection on the season so far, seeing leads slip away or not doing enough to put the game to bed. In contrast newly promoted Blackburn have had a strong start to the season. They currently sit in 7th place with 23 points. Blackburn have won most of their games by tight margins with a 64-7 victory over Ilkley their biggest margin of victory this season. Its clear Blackburn have a solid defence but are capable of scoring tries, so Wirral will have to be on top form to gain an away victory on Saturday. Victory for Wirral would see the middle of the table tighten up slightly but a loss would mean they are closer to the relegation places than mid table. With the weather due to be grim the boys will need all the support possible. 2:15 kick off with the minibus leaving at 11:15.
