On 23rd Aug the First XV pre-season build-up continues with the visit of Shropshire outfit Newport (Salop) to the Memorial ground (2.00PM kick-off).
Despite amassing 51 points Newport were relegated from National 3 Midlands to the Midlands 1 League, on the final Saturday of last season. The season ended on a high though with a 20-18 victory over Worcester Warriors to lift the North Midlands Cup.
With a new look coaching team headed up by Bob Adams and featuring ex-Stourbridge, Worcester Warriors and England Counties Prop Mike Hill as Player/coach the team will be looking to bounce straight back into the national leagues.
We look forward to giving Captain Tom Cowell, the players, coaches and supporters of Newport a warm welcome at the Memorial Ground as the 1st XV look to build on the promising warm-up game against New Brighton last week.
