Caldy provide the test for the first team's opening competitive game of the season - a Cheshire Cup game away at Paton Field.

Our high-flying neighbours provide a tasty starter before the main course of the league season starts on 3rd September.

The pre-season training is nearly done and team captain, Craig Harvey, along with the rest of the first team, are looking forward to the league campaign; planning to go one better than last year and gain promotion.

Head Coach Matt Cairns is satisfied that the team is prepared for the season ahead and that they will be at least as competitive as last year when they only failed at the last hurdle, being beaten in the promotion play-off by Midlands rivals Hinckley.

Prior to their first league fixture (away at Rossendale), Wirral face last year's beaten finalists in the Cheshire Cup, Caldy. The game kicks off at 3.00PM this Saturday (27th) at Paton Field. The game will undoubtedly be a stern test for the Wirral boys as Caldy compete in the league above them; however Cairns believes that it will be ideal preparation for the rigours of the league ahead, providing a very competitive culmination to pre-season preparations.

Following the outstanding support provided to the team, both home and away, last year the squad hopes that Wirral fans will make the short journey to Caldy and provide the vocal support they've come to expect.
