same place but still impossible to find !

Not being funny but, for a club of such high esteem in the area, can they not buy some flaming sign posts !!!! the only one on a round about directs you to St.Marys playing field ! 2 miles from the club !!!! Good job the Rich postman was walking past and managed to send us close to where we needed to go !

Anyway, after much mumbling and moaning we arrived, got changed and then found we had to travel again to another set of fields to play. Good job as well as 4 teams on that 1st team pitch might have got a bit confusing !!!

Anyway into the cars and off we went, through the rain and the second set of hail stones then the force 10 gale, all in the space of a mile ! anyway we arrived warmed up, well stood around a lighted match ! and started. After the first scrum it suddenly dawned on us, we were a man down !!!!! Where the hell was our flanker ! (that's not the word I would have used), answer well that comes later. After conceding two tries and a conversion, my fears for a rout were starting to ring true !. However Waterloo offered us a player and what a player! Why is it when your playing against your mates, you seem to step up a gear !, getting big hits in without fear of retaliation, fantastic ! Once we were back up to full numbers my worst fears were doused, we started to play. Ruck ball after ruck ball saw us move up the field again and again, only for us to lose the ball and Waterloo's 10 kick the ball back to our try line. It stayed like this all half and into the second. Wirral mauling and rucking well but no real penetration from the backs. Finally during the later stages of the second half, Waterloo went over twice to give what I think was an unjust score 22-0.

Now back to the lack of an open side flanker ! well here comes a tale, worthy of DOTD (Dick of the Day). Player lives at Uni in Liverpool, phones capt for game and travels back to Bebington (5 miles as crow flies) to home. Turns up at club, pays subs and then decides he needs to go somewhere to sort out his phone, (bearing in mind as a student he's got all week to do this). On the way to Waterloo, back through the tunnel, past his digs and on the way to Crosby he thinks, have I got everything ? Shorts, check, gum shield, check, socks, check, towel, check, Bag, check, Skull cap, check, BOOTS ???? oops at home !!!! poor old dad, return home to get them or buy a pair on the way !, he's an accountant, so its back home, collect boots and back to Waterloo ! anyway onwards and upwards, Anselmians next week ! lets hope we play as well and win !
