This boy's a fool!

As we skipped out on to the second team pitch you could nearly hear the chorus of Bring Me Sunshine as the weather was fantastic for October.

Everything was in place. The Mold squad had arrived early and both teams had run through their warm-up routines. We had a rousing team talk in the changing room and then ran out, all fired-up, on to the pitch ready for action. The match ball was sat there in the centre of the pitch......all on its own. It was only then that it became apparent that we were missing just one thing. One fairly important thing......the Ref.

All the plans had been made in advance and confirmed. But the ref wasn't there! Enquiries were made and it turned out that the ref was injured and couldn't make it (injured or hungover, not sure which - Just watch it, that's all!). Anyway, desperate times call for desperate measures. Branchy was loitering around and quickly realised " I haven't really got any choice have I?" Borrowed some boots and a whistle and off we went. Wahey!

Fairly soon into the game Will made a break and ran in to score. Pow! he's in! I like him....I like him!

Wirral didn't play their most structured game ever but still managed to run in a number of tries. Will took four, Joe two, Woodsy one, Tay one and George one from full back. Will & Woodsy also racked up some conversions.

The Wirral players tried out a number of unfamiliar positions as has been our style this season. Harv and Tay had a successful run out as a centre partnership, Dave did some great hooking (as did Skips), Ben and Tom both came very close to scoring from their wings.

Mold played all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order and I'm sure with more experience they will go on to be a tough side. Good luck to them in building their squad.

Thanks to the Branchmeister for reffing and saving the day and Thanks to you for reading this match report what I wrote.

As I walked off to the bus in my flat cap and brown over coat with all my gear in a brown paper bag I noticed all the U 14's parents still at the bar!

Get off!......Just watch it.... that's all!
