Wirral beat Lymm to win the Junior Colts A league
Wirral beat Lymm 58-0 to win the Junior Colts A league
A great game of open rugby saw Wirral Junior Colts complete their league campaign with an empathic win over Lymm.
With a full strength squad ,except for Sam McNee, Wirral started the game well at the Memorial Ground.
Sandy Davidson opened the scoring after three minutes with the first of his two tries and this was followed up in the first half with tries by Alex Griffiths, Simon Flavell, Luke Harris, Paddy Cannon and Mark Griffiths.
Five minutes before half time saw Tom Lock nearly scored in the corner only to be injured in the process. Substitute Frank Richards finished things off and Kieran Brocken finished the first half for Wirral scoring in the righthand corner,
Wirral made 6 changes at half time bringing on Declan Littler, Alex Lee, Oliver Mills, Cameron Hibbert-Jones, Kieran Smith and Joel Hitchcow
A rejuvenated Lymm started the first half well and besides Sandy’s second try kept Wirral at bay for most of the second half.
A few minutes from time Declan Littler went over to score Wirrals 10th try and their 88th of the season.
A great result – 58-0 and Wirral were crowned Champions.
Will Spriggs, Tom Parry, James Inskip and Tom Arthur did not get on due to the fact that we had a full squad for only the second time this season. Everyone has played an important part this season and it is the first time that Wirral have been crowned champions in the “A” league of the Junior Colts.
Thanks to Dave Bundy, of Liverpool Society for refereeing the game. Also thanks to the other teams in the league for the kind comments. All the coaches have enjoyed the season and now look forward to the cup matches. The lads have been great fun this year and played some outstanding rugby.
See you all at Sandbach next weekend.
