Touch and contact rugby returns for all groups at Wirral this week.

It's been a long three months for everyone at Wirral Rugby Club, with community sports out of action during the national lockdown. Thankfully, this week will see the return to training of all sections of the club.

Wednesday evening saw the return of our ladies' touch rugby training. Judging by the exciting number of girls and the even-more-exciting number of smiles, the session was just the "welcome home" that was needed.

Thursday evening saw a "gentle" return to contact for our junior and senior women, with defender beating drills and a masterclass in how to land safely in the tackle from coaches Steve and Sarah. Thrown into the mix was a breakdancing competition, some homemade millionaire shortbread pieces and plenty of socially distanced, but heart-warming, reunions. I have never heard a coach say "it's too hard to hear over the happy squeals" before.

Best of all - we have Sunday still to come!

All of our training is open to beginners and experienced players alike. Regardless of whether you've picked up a ball before or never seen one in your life - we would love for you to join our family. Rugby is a game for everyone - and nowhere is that displayed better than a Warriors training session.

Training times -
TOUCH rugby - Wednesday 1900-2000
Junior & Senior contact rugby - Thursday 1845-2000
Sunday 1100 - 1230
