Our current till system supplier PowerEPOS has recently been taken over by Henderson
Technology. As a result, there is no longer support for the current software that we operate.
We have continued to operate for several months without any cover for the old system.
However, we now feel it is time that we move to newer software that is supported. The
upgraded software will be cloud based so we no longer need to maintain manual backups on a laptop stored in the cellar.
As a result of the change, we would need to maintain separate software to continue to operate the member card system. The current additional monthly cost of this is £60 a month but is expected to rise. As the new till software does not incorporate the facility for member balances the operation of the tills would therefore become more complicated and slow down service at busy periods. Reconciliation of the two systems would also complicate the accounting process.
We have looked at the current usage of the old system and feel the cost and service reduction
does not currently justify us offering this service to members.
We therefore have no other choice but to close the card system and return members' money.
Going forward, we will continue to be a cashless club and all payments can be made using
credit or debit cards with the exception of American Express cards.
The changeover date is from 6pm on Tuesday 8th April.
From this date we would ask members to produce their bar card to the acting Club Manager.
The Bar card number will be checked to a list produced at the changeover date to establish the current balance. The bar card will then no longer be active.
All refunds will then be credited back to the member on a debit or credit card of their choice.
In the unlikely event that a member no longer visits the Club then a refund can be arranged by
BACS. The Acting Club Manager will need your sort code and account number. The process
should take 3 days to arrange.
Arranging refunds to members will undoubtedly impact on bar service and we therefore ask
members to be patient during this time.
Thankyou
The Bar Committee
