Thanks to very generous donation from Norman Simpson (RIP) and his lovely wife Sue we have now got a Retractable Conservatory in front of the clubhouse, which looks fantastic and opens a lot more opportunities for fund raising and functions. Norman was a member of our Executive Committee and was responsible for us going for Charity Status, his commitment and passion, although sometime controversial, for the club and what it was all about was only surpassed by his generosity. Norman was very specific in that the money he donated was for the Rugby Section and to be used for something beneficial to this section. So, Graeme Roberts and I went to meet Sue on a few occasions and agreed that we would look at a Conservatory. I saw a suitable one at Wallasey Rugby Club, which got the ball rolling, thanks to the help from Andy Procter, Steve Fergusson, Paul Fletcher and Phil Stokes, who carried out all the preliminary works.

In thanking Norman and Sue, it would be very remiss of me not to thank Fred Tush and family for their significant donation towards the Patio and Bifold Doors, known as “Dors Doors ”, in memory of Fred’s late wife Doreen. Also not forgetting the donation to the Pergola made in remembrance of the late Derek Parry.

All the members highlighted in this email have made a significant contribution to the club, not just financially but also with their enthusiasm, commitment and integrity and where always on hand to help and assist when and wherever they were needed. They are all sadly missed.
