Rod Backhouse passed away at St Johns Hospice on Saturday with his family at his side. Rod played with distinction as a scrum half . Following the end of his playing career he went on to serve the club for many years, initially as secretary of the rugby club and then as Chairman of Wirral Club. In that latter capacity he led the Club through some difficult times with his usual good humour and common sense. He will be greatly missed.
