PREVIEW: WIRRAL vs ROSSENDALE
The last game of the season is upon us, and Wirral 1s face Rossendale at home. The game sees Wirral look to secure a top 4 finish in the league, commendable after the amount of injuries suffered this season. It is also a notable game for winger, Ali Baker, for whom it will be his last game for Wirral.
Wirral come into this weekend, following a win at home away at Cleckheaton, 31-52, the first time the team have ever won away at Moorend. This meant that they remain in 4th position within the league. Wirral will be hoping to continue their winning ways in tomorrow’s game, to end the season on a high !
Rossendale are coming into this week’s game following an 11-41 defeat against Huddersfield. Currently Rossendale sit 2nd in the league, with 7 points between themselves and Hull, Rossendale have secured a place in this year’s playoffs. The team have won 21 of their matches this season; however Wirral did beat them in their first meeting this season (back in September).
The sides have met 5 times in the past, with Wirral having won 3 out of the 5 matches and drawing another. Most games between the two have been a tight and exciting affair, and it looks like tomorrow’s game will be no different.
