Wirral face a long trip to the North-East to face newly-promoted Morpeth this weekend for what will be the first game between to two sides.
Morpeth look to be improving with each game as they find their feet in this League; this was emphasised by a resounding away victory (5-32) over close rivals Alnwick last week. This week they'll be looking for their first home win of the campaign having previously lost to Carlisle and Blackburn at Grange House Field. Last weeks victory was built on a good performance by the pack, particularly back-rowers Dynan, Williams and 'man-of-the-match' Craig Donnelly.
From Wirral's perspective, while it is too early in the season to claim games are 'must win' the following three fixtures are all with teams around them in the bottom half of the table so favourable results against Morpeth, Ilkley and Kirkby Lonsdale would give the season a healthier outlook that as it stands currently. With injuries to key players, Craig Harvey and Rob Pearl last week and Joe Murray, James Reeve and Sam Broadbent unavailable, coach Simon Verbickas will be looking at a much changed team to get the first league win of the season.
