Wirral 2 vs Stockport 3

Another tough fixture – Stockport (2nd in the league)

Again we greatly relished the game. This was a non-stop physical confrontation. I don’t think this season the Stockport team have ever or will see a team repeatedly keep coming at them continually testing the defence.

The game was non-stop and both teams showed great fitness & character.

The game was unfortunately marred with silly instances! After repeated infringements from the team and warnings from the referee Tom Robinson was yellow carded & sin-binned. Again being a man down seemed to spur us on and play better rugby.

Upon the return of Robinson the game continued at a frantic pace and another incident occurred – this time involving Robinson!! The referee, patience now wearing thin, now had to gain control of the game and gave Robinson a second yellow card - Red card & off he went!

We regroup and give the opposition everything we’ve got!!

The dying seconds ensue, Wirral are defending their 22 – Stockport set up a ruck, the ball is passed to their stand off, a definite fumble and cries of ‘knock-on’ are cried out! The stand off picks up the ball only to convert a drop goal!!!

This hurt & did not sit pretty with us & all the hard work we put in! To make it worse we the hear the final whistle!

Final score Wirral 15-17 Stockport.

Robinson has since served a two week ban!
