Unfortunatley for Wirral we seemed to forget this. Although the scores does not reflect it it could have easily been reversed. Shoddy tackling through out the team straight from the kick off saw us on the back foot for most of the game with Christleton running in three tries before we'd even got out of the starting blocks. We did manage a penalty and couple of tries before half time but then had to play up the slight slope in the second half.
Half time score Wirral 15 - Christleton 31.
The second half started the same as the first with us conceeding a soft try after large amounts of pressure on the visitors defence. Again poor tackling let us down and a prop ran 30 yds to score. We rallied and did score a couple of tried of our own but every time we scored Christleton seemed to get 2.
There was alot of pride at stake as we did not want to be the first team to lose at home on the new pitchs this season, but the visitors prevailed.
Not sure if the lads want this but tackling practice on Wednesday is top of the agenda !!!!
On a final point there were a couple of lads usually playing 4th team who stepped up today. Luke gee who only recently started playing this season and young Tom Franklin. Tom scored his 1st try for the three's but then won himself the DOTD award for finding the largest men on the opposing teams and running at them. Not sure if he was trying to show them his new hair cut but they did not take kindly to a speedy winger trying to run through them. Tom later compounded this error by NOT drink the tea Pot of Beer getting Luke to do it for him. Lightweight !
Final Score
Wirral 29 - Christleton 57
