Wirral coaches reflected on England’s slam and attacking approach in Paris and decided to focus entirely on defence and tackling in the warm up. The squad split into 2 teams and the captains named their teams 'fluffy bunnies' and 'ultimate invaders.' No prizes for guessing which team had the female captain and everyone was happy to hop onto the pitch.

Steve kindly agreed to ref and proceeded to explain the offside side rule to the colony of bunnies. What was amazing (although I shouldn't have been surprised knowing his credentials) is that they all seemed to understand and put into practice on the pitch.

Our visitors were keen for a final game to give all their squad a run out. A hastily assembled and weary Wirral Barbarians took the field and finished 5-4 winners. A final 3 cheers and thanks to Caldy coaches, players, supporters and ref Alan for a most enjoyable friendly fixture.

Player of the day was Jack for a fabulous display of clever running and crucial tags. Try of the season was scored by Ellie and the team played the ball the length of the pitch with all 6 players involved. Parents and coaches reflected that it is a pleasure to see the team developing in both their individual game and team work. Happy Wirral bunnies.
