A fantastic team performance and a great game of rugby, played in great spirit, saw Wirral defeat their neighbours.
Wirral opened the scoring after three minutes, with a great move by the forwards seeing Chip Adkins going over and the try was converted by Ben Brooks. Wirral stretched their lead after 18 minutes with a try by Luke Harris again converted by Ben - 14-0.
Caldy came back strong and scored after the restart and then again after 31 minutes to bring the scores level. Two penalties by Ben Brooks before half time saw Wirral go into the break 20-14 up.
2nd half started well but Caldy forced the pace and nearly scored under the posts but Wirral's defence remained intact.
A well worked move by the backs after 14 minutes of the 2nd half, saw Simon Flavell go under the posts and the conversion by Ben saw Wirral extend their lead to 27-14. Caldy scored in the 20th minute to make the score 27-19 but a further penalty by Ben and a try in the dying minutes by Kieran Brocken saw Wirral run out winners 35-19.
Well done to all the team and both sets of players, played in teh match in the true spirit of Rugby.
