Junior Colts v Scottish Barbarians - Sunday 29th March
Up the Junior Kilts!!
Wirral Junior Colts signed off their penultimate age-grade season with an impressive hammering of a Scottish Barbarians U18 side in Dunfermline.
The touring Wirralians had arrived in Edinburgh at 2am the same morning but were able to be sufficiently awake to put 8 tries past their hosts.
Lumbering second row Vickers opened the account for Wirral with a try in the second minute of the game, with stand-off Jackson adding the extras.
Wirral added a further 5 unanswered tries in the first half through prop Penisini, a brace from hooker Bradley, back-row skipper Wood, and scrum-half Plavsic getting one for the backs. Jackson converted two.

As the second half commenced, the Caledonians stitched together some good moves and exploited gaps in the visitors’ defences to score a try within 2 minutes - clearly they’d had their Irn Brew during the break. Wirral soon responded with tries from lock Vickers and fly-half Jackson.
The remainder of the half was a scoreless arm-wrestle, with the Scots grabbing a consolation try just before the final whistle.
Final score: Scottish Barbars 12 - Wirral 50
The hospitality from Dunfermline RFC was superb. Opposing captains exchanged pennants and plaques, and the hosts were extended an open invitation to the Peninsula.
Wirral players, parents, and coaches stayed to cheer on the Dunfermline 1st XV before returning to Edinburgh to enjoy the cultural offerings of the National Museum and the National Gallery.
